Uzbekistan students attend Islamic Accounting lectures in the Accounting Study Program at Muhammadiyah University of Sidoarjo.

On Tuesday, May 20, 2025, Uzbek students participating in the exchange study program at Muhammadiyah University of Sidoarjo (UMSIDA) had a special opportunity to attend a lecture on Islamic Accounting conducted by Mrs. Dr. Imelda Dian Rahmawati, SE. M.Ak. Ak., CA, one of the lecturers in the Accounting Study Program.

This class is an important part of the exchange study program aimed at introducing the Sharia-based accounting system implemented in Indonesia to international students. The lectures are conducted in person in the Accounting Study Program classroom, 5th Floor GKB 2 UMSIDA, in an open and enthusiastic academic atmosphere.

In that session, Mrs. Imelda explained various basic concepts of Islamic Accounting, such as the prohibition of usury, the principle of justice in financial transactions, and the application of Islamic accounting standards (PSAK Syariah) in Indonesia. The students from Uzbekistan appeared very enthusiastic in following the explanation, even actively engaging in discussions and asking questions about the implementation of this system in a global context.

This activity enriches the learning experience of foreign students and opens new horizons regarding accounting practices based on Islamic values, which are increasingly recognized internationally. Moreover, direct interaction in the classroom also provides an opportunity for local students to learn from the global perspectives brought by students from Uzbekistan.

The Head of the Accounting Study Program, Mrs. Sarwenda Biduri, SE., MSA., stated that the presence of foreign students in the class provides a valuable international learning atmosphere. “This is an opportunity for all students to exchange perspectives and to understand that accounting also possesses universal values that can be applied in various cultural contexts,” she remarked.

With the implementation of this activity, it is hoped that UMSIDA will be increasingly recognized as a campus that actively engages in international collaboration and is committed to the development of inclusive and global accounting knowledge.
